  • Asteroid & comet locations wrong in Skyatlas

I've noticed that asteroids in Seestar's catalog aren't where they are shown in the Skyatlas. They show up in Skyatlas, but they're not in the FOV when I slew to them. So I manually reposition to the position shown in TheSkyLive, or Stellarium and now they're in the FOV. Last night Skyatlas showed that asteroid Astraea would be in the same FOV as NGC 2175 the monkey head nebula. I captured the nebula, but not the asteroid, which you can easily see after about 20 minutes of exposure b/c it forms a line rather than a dot. So I shifted to the position indicated in TheSkyLive and there it was. I think possibly the Skyatlas catalog position may be one day ahead of the actual location of the asteroid.

Has anyone else seen this phenomenon?
