When I stack my fits I;m given a TIF file. However that tiff file is just a pure black image no matter what program I open it with? What am I doing wrong?

johnpd Any fits files do this. The jpg looks fine the tif is solid black. I open the tif in photoshop and it's solid black..nothing I can do recovers anything.
bkushner It is becuase ASIfitview saves only the tif without any stretch. you can use other post process software to handle the fits files, such as siril. DSS, PI, etc.
Tech@ZWO I'm using Deep Sky Stack not Asifitview. Also why would I use another stacking program to process a stacked file? I want to use photoshop.

It seems your file is still linear. It is 100% normal if you didn't stretch it. You can probably use photoshop to stretch it with the histogram tool but it may not be that easy as Photoshop is not really designed to handle linear astophotography data. The more usual workflow is to use the stacking program that you used to stretch the image before importing it to Photoshop.
I had the same problem. When I selected image-auto tone in PS the image came up, but was mono and had a grid over the image. I do not mind the conversion to mono, but I would sure like to make the grid go away.
