Freezing problems

I've been trying to use the ASI120MC as autoguider :

1. it keeps crashing my computer

2. It is very difficult to make it work, and when it does it doesn't work for long ( picture freezes, etc)

I use maxim DL ver 5 for imaging.

I configured the camera as in ZWO instructions as "Video DS" , then select the ASI camera.

But I have tested the ASI also with PHD, Firecapture and sharpcap and sooner or later the PC crashes. Firecapture allows to reduce the USB traffic. Even at minimum and having nothing else connected still crashes my computer.

My main camera is an Starlight Xpress and I can have this camera connected for hours with Maxim and it never crashes my PC

PC is a Dell with quad core i7 processor, windows 7, 8GB RAM.

I'd like to hear if other had similar issues and recommendations...

OK...found out the ZWO camera needs to be setup differently if it is to be used as autoguider...wish this is more clear in the provided instructions.

Needs first to install the ASCOM driver:

I have tested during daylight for more than 1h and computer hasn't crashed yet...will do real test autoguiding an exposure and report if any problems.

No one helped on this posts...hope this helps others
