It does find it.. sometimes. It needs level to be as set as close to 0 as possible.. (.3 or less degrees off). It then tilts up to known elevation of the sun/moon for location/time and (due to general inaccuracy of the compass) starts about 30 degrees left and then pans across to the right looking for any hint of the sun/moon disc in frame. If it catches any of it, it'll lock onto it. Sometimes it misses. What is more reliable is to 3D print one of the little sun aiming shadow box things, and just set it on top of the moving scope, resting its side against the main unit, and manually move it until the dot of the sun is lined up in the crosshairs.
