So, I was shooting a time-lapse of the eclipse from just before first contact.
Everything was in perfect focus, it was tracking perfectly, all was good!
It was just a couple minutes before totality and I went to switch from time-lapse to video and wanted to adjust the exposure just a bit.
However, I accidently hit auto-focus instead of exposure and the image went out of focus and auto-focus would not re-focus properly on the small remaining crescent of the Sun. Tried a couple of times and each time it wouldn't focus - it actually was in focus at a point during auto-focus, but auto-focus didn't stop there, just kept going until it was completely blurry again.
I tried doing autofocus again during totality with the filter off, but it wouldn't settle on an in-focus image then either. Not wanting to miss the experience entirely, I gave up trying.
A few minutes after totality, it was able to auto-focus again on a larger crescent and I shot a time-lapse from then until final contact.
But, was really frustrating that I missed imaging the main show with my Seestar.
After the fact, I've since learned I could have enabled the Manual exposure controls, I could have probably adjusted the exposure manually using the controls, but didn't know how to do that at the time and didn't have time to mess around as I didn't want to miss the total eclipse experience.
Anyway, based upon what happened, I'd like to put in a feature request to avoid something like this in the future - could ther be an option to either lock focus, or require a long press on the auto-focus button so that an accidental touch of auto-focus doesn't mess up a current imaging session, especially while a video or time-lapse session is currently running?
