Hi all. Last night was the clearest night I've ever seen, so I pulled out my C8 with my ZWO ASI120MC and loaded up FireCapture Beta 2.4.06. I got some great videos of Jupiter. I stacked in Autostakkert Alpha 2.3.0.21, and then did wavelets in Registax 6.1.0.8. I was amazed at the detail I got in the image, but it was in black and white!
I thought to myself "doh! I forgot to set the debayering in AS2", so I went back and tried the various bayer settings, RGGB, GRBG, GBRG, and BGGR, but I didnt' get any color. I don't think FireCapture has a black and white mode, so I feel like the color data has to be in there somewhere, but I don't know how to get it out!
Then I found this FireCapture standalone Debayer tool. Again, I'm faced with several options with no clue which is the right one. NearestNeighbor, Bilinear, etc., and several Bayer patterns to choose from. I chose several combinations at random and again do not see any color in the final image.
I can't find any documentation on this ASI120MC or in FireCapture as to which debayer pattern or algorithm to use.
Please help, I would be devastated if I got the best image of a planet I've ever taken, but it's stuck in black and white. I know the color data has to be in there somewhere!
I will try to upload the raw video, to my dropbox, but it's 500MB. So it will take a while.
EDIT: I ran a test by taking a quick video in my living room with the all-sky lens. I played with the debayer settings and it appears the correct debayer pattern is GR. The algorithm doesn't seem to make a difference. Ok, so if that's the case, then my Jupiter video surely has to debayer with the same pattern. So I loaded up the video in the debayer tool and chose the GR pattern. Still no color!!
EDIT2: It's possible I checked the "Bin 2x" option. I'm not sure what this does, but it seems to be mutually exclusive with debayering. If I did have this option checked, is there a way to get the color data out?
EDIT3: Here is the link to the video in question. Perhaps someone could have better luck?
