Hello, my equipment is as follows:

  • AZ SynScan GOTO mount
  • Mak 127 with focal reducer x0.5
  • ASIAIR Plus
  • ASI 224 MC camera
All controlled from an iPad with the Beta version of the App by selecting "Skywatcher SynScan Beta".
Things happen to me that I don't get to understand, like for example, after aligning the mount to two stars (without connecting the ASIAIR yet), after centering the first star, it automatically moves the mount towards the second one leaving it quite far away from the center in the position, let's call it X, finishing centering it myself manually and showing the "Correct Alignment" warning. Well, when I connect the ASIAIR it moves the mount to another position (possibly the N) and when from the App I tell it to look for the second star that I centered in the alignment, it doesn't leave it in the center, it leaves it in the X position.
The App's GOTO never centers the objects and I have to center them manually because it never does plate solving, even sometimes, once the object is centered, it doesn't match the App's map.
I am reporting all this to the technical team through the App, but I get the impression that with each update of the beta version it works worse and worse.
Can it be a malfunction of the mount, can it still be a malfunction of the App in the absence of correcting these problems?
    Thanks

luiscanizaresm On the SynScan hand controller clear all alignment data. See the manual for how to do that. Then don’t do a 2 star alignment before connecting the mount to ASIAir. Just connect it, do a polar alignment from within ASIAir and then a GoTo from within ASIAir. That’s all there is to it.

    Thank you very much 👍
But, can polar alignment also be done with an altazimuthal mount?

    4 days later

I have been able to verify that I cannot activate the "Skywatcher SynScan Beta" driver without doing the previous two-star alignment. On the other hand, I doubt that with an altazimuthal mount you can do a Polar alignment from ASIAIR Plus because one of the actions required is to rotate the mount 60º

Actually, you can rotate the the mount 60º manually also, that is why there are two ways to rotate 60º, manually and then you must confirm the action when done and also autmatically in ASIAIR itself..
If same would work for an altazimuthal mount ? I am not sure, I never have had any before..

    Regards
    Martin

artem The problem is that the movements in an altazimuthal mount are left-right, up-down, it does not have an axis that can be placed parallel to the axis of rotation of the earth and that can be rotated 60º, so I think that the alignment the Polar with ASIAIR is only for equatorial mounts.
      Thank you and greetings.
