I am using the ASIAir Pro, have used the Gem28 with this exact gear for several years and my guiding has been great. I bought the AM5 to replace the Gem28 and the guiding is instantly horrible. The mount is level, the tripod is solid, and the PA is great. The guiding Calibration went fine I aimed along the Meridian, etc.
The guide camera is the 120mm mini with the 30mm f4 scope combo.
Main camera is the ASI2600mc Pro and Askar Fra500.
I have read all the guiding posts in the forum. I followed their suggestions, but no improvement. I am keeping my RA and DEC aggression at less then 50% but it doesn’t matter what I change it too. I have used both 1 Sec and 2 Sec exposures, and it doesn’t seem to make much difference.
I have tried the Max Dec and RA Duration from 500ms to 150ms, no noticeable change.
Thank you,
Jim
PS tried to post screenshots but the page says something went wrong after I selected them and clicked upload.
Calibration Duration: 2000ms
RA max Duration: 400ms
Dec max Duration: 400ms
Tried from 500 to 150ms for both. No real change.
RA aggression: 30%
Dec aggression: 40%
Tried from 15 to 50 for both, no real difference
Guide Exposure at both 1 sec and 2 sec - no real difference
My guiding basically is around 3” to 4”
After a dither it jumps to 6” and takes about 3 minutes to get back down to 3.5”
