I know the Seestar is not a full astrophotography rig, but with some minor software changes, it would be an even more incredible piece of kit:
Turn on without having to push and hold power button (so I could use a programmable outlet) or have it on but wait to image until a preset time. This means I can go to bed and wait for the object I'm interested in to rise at 2am while I'm asleep.
Tell it to pick a target and do the 3-star calibration (aka "horizontal calibration") automatically and start imaging. This would go together with #1 so that when it start imaging, it does the full plate-solve calibration and automatically tracks the target.
Be be able to change targets at a preset time. This is so I can tell it to start imaging target 1, then I go to bed, and it switches to target 2 after an hour or two.
These all three go hand-in-hand to make it a much more capable astrophotography rig, all with minor program adjustments. Right now, if I want to image something that doesn't rise until 2am, I have to wake up at 2am and set it up and start imaging. No reason why I shouldn't be able to plug it into power, turn it on, and have it just sit there and wait (or better yet, image something else for a while) until 2am and then switch over to automatically image what I want it to.
