The-Patrician The resolution of the FITS files is 2MP too, 1080x1920, actually. It is 12MB because each pixel is RGB, with 16 bits per component. The sensor also has a Bayer pattern, there are 1M green pixels, 500K red and 500K blue ones, the rest are interpolated. That's OK, virtually all color sensors are like that, unless you have a monochrome one with a filterwheel. It is a very good compromise, especially at this price level. I think 2Mpixels is OK, a bigger sensor would raise the material costs, especially since the optics are quite good, the stars are nice and round, even in the corners. What ZWO should do, essentially for free, is trade a longer exposure time for both more pixels and a wider field of view, especially if everything is done automatically for you. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to get the whole M31 Andromeda galaxy in one shot?
