Sam,
Do you know what gain setting on the ASI120MM gives unity gain (1 e- = 1 ADU) so that I can use the optimal gain value for some experiments with deep sky imaging.
Thank you
James
its about 0.21e/ADU when output 16bit
but there is only 12bit available
so its 16*0.21e/real ADU
maybe a 4X gain canbe used with DSO
gain value 32 is 4X analog gain
Thank you Sam. I've been using a gain of 80 so far and fount I had mag 14 stars saturated in 10 seconds (2x2bin, 8" SCT). Reducing the gain by that much will give be a much better dynamic range.
Is there a formula to convert from the selected gain to the actual gain?
the gain setting is like this in ASI120MM:
there is a default 1.25X analog gain enable all the time
0-15
analog gain
digital gain-2x
16-31
32-47
48-63
64-79
digital gain-4x
80-100
digital gain-8x
Hi James
astronomy need accurate caculation
8bit output will use the high 8bit
so all gain is ok for 8bit
