using an usb2 extension cable for guiding

Hi folks

I currently use a 5m high speed active repeater extension booster cable to connect my dslr camera to my laptop. Lets me sit in the relative comfort of the conservatory when imaging.

I've had the ASI120MC camera for some time for planetary imaging and have been persuaded that I need to guide the scope to stop star trailing for deep sky imaging. So I want to sit in the conservatory when guiding with the ASI120MC!

Will it guide using a similar 5m cable as above to connect the ASI120 to my laptop and PHD software. I thought I read somewhere that extension cables should not be used with the ZWO cameras

a directly connect cable is better than extension

I think 5 meter cable is ok for guiding

I will be giving it a try as soon as the weather improves. My first attempt at guiding (with any camera). Using PHD software.
