Update option?

When an update is available, can you NOT update ... i.e. can you decline to update and just keep using the version you've already got? Thx for reading.

In iOS as long as you do not install the latest ASIAIR update from the App Store, you can sit on your current version as long as you want. Just be careful that you do not have auto updates in Settings turned on. There are four of them. I don't know about the Android version, but I suspect it is the same.

When you update the App on your device this will then update the firmware on the ASIAIR.

They're a matched set.

So if you don't want to update the firmware on the ASIAIR then turn off auto update for any device running the ASIAIR App (for Android you do this via the Play Store for the App by clicking on the triple dots menu).
