Summary of Inquiry about ZWO 6200MM Camera Issue

When I connect the ASIAIR to the power cable and camera cable and turn on the ASIAIR, the camera fan does not spin. Additionally, the camera name does not appear in the app's camera selection options, indicating that the camera is not receiving power. Of course, the output port on the ASIAIR is turned on.

In this situation, if I turn off the ASIAIR, disconnect the cable from the 6200MM, connect it to my 2600MM, and turn the ASIAIR back on, the fan immediately starts spinning, indicating that the ASIAIR, cables, and app are functioning properly.

This suggests that the power cable connection to the 6200MM is suspect. I checked to ensure the cable was properly connected, pushed it in a bit, and tried reconnecting at different angles, but it doesn't always power on.

However, sometimes it does power on by chance, and once it does, it stays powered on. Some instances of this happening include:

Turning the ASIAIR output port off and on made it power on.
Connecting it to a different ASIAIR made it power on.
After connecting it to another ASIAIR, it powered on even when returned to the original ASIAIR.
Despite these instances, there are times when it doesn't power on even if I turn the ASIAIR output port off and on, connect it to a different ASIAIR, or change the cables. Thus, the power-on method lacks consistency and only occasionally works by chance. Is this a malfunction?

iwa I checked to ensure the cable was properly connected, pushed it in a bit, and tried reconnecting at different angles, but it doesn't always power on.

Check to make sure the power connector is 5.5mm x 2.1mm and not the other common variant, which is 5.5mm x 2.5mm. The latter will produce intermittent connection.

The way to tell is to try to plug the connector into a known 5.5mm x 2.5mm jack. A 2.1mm plug will not go into the 2.5mm jack. I cheat and use the DeepSkyDad power hub, which has both 2.1mm and 2.5mm jacks :-), but you can buy known 2.5mm and 2.1mm jacks from places like DigiKey and Mouser Electronics.

Check not just the power cable. If the USB cable is bad, the fan will also not come on. The fan comes on when there is power (that red light nect to the power jack) and the camera is connected to a coputer USB port. The fan then turns off when you establish communications to the camera. And it gets turned on again when you command the camera to cool.

If you are using a cable that came in a ZWO box, throw it away immediately in the thrash. The cables (both USB and power) from ZWO are garbage.

All ZWO USB hardware implementation is garbage, and requires you to "tune" a cable so that it will work. The same cable will work on one ZWO camera and may not on another one. ZWO cables are especially bad.

Their power cables are equally bad (and cheats the custmer). See this old posting of mine:
