Brand new ASI2600MM Duo having strange horizontal banding

I purchaseed ASI2600MM duo and am building a dark library.

Gain 100, Offset 30, USB Limit 40
This is a screenshot of bin1 full size image I took to show the issue

I was wondering if its due to AC Power supply, so I used a 12V battery where there can be no AC interference.

Even with that I get this

So its not due to AC Power supply but generic banding. I am wondering if this will cause issues? Will it get calibrated out? Is it normal or camera is defective?

I am using orange cable which came with camera in the box

tsk1979 that is normal. I get that with darks under 120s exposures and on longer exposures it is reduced more. My images come out band free and awesome. Gain 0 is even worse but the end results are flawless. Do an imaging run then add calibration frames and process…

Thanks Kevin, I just got the camera. Will image a target this weekend and see if final processed image works well 🙂

tsk1979 you can also try another usb cable if you have one as they are the weakest link in the while setup. But like I said… all my cameras have that banding.

I got the same banding on Bias too, and with a different USB cable. I suspect it will get calibrated out. Once I image this weekend I will see how it looks!

What you saw both times is pretty much the read noise from the camera.

The IMX571 based cameras have very low dark current noise. I.e., you will find is that for reasonable temperatures (lower than +10ºC) and exposure times (shorter than 300 sec), the dark frame will look pretty much like the Bias frames since the long exposures won't add much noise.

A Bias frame is basically a dark frame with a very short exposure time, so that dark current noise is not present in the reading. The Dark frame will include both read noise and dark current noise. By subtracting the two, the post processing software estimates how much dark current noise there is.

The dark current noise of the IMX571 is so low that many lazy people have even stopped taking dark frames with this sensor.
