I plan to order this mount later this year but I have concerns about the maximum amps / current the 12 volt saddle can provide. Three amps is too low. With an ASI2600MC Pro cooling to 90% power, Pegasus Power Box V2, ZWO EFW, dew heaters and a future Pegasus rotator the total current draw will be over 3 amps at times.

This needs to be addressed. This 12 volt power jack needs to be upgraded to provide more than 3 amps.

Hi, I have similar issues with the power port at 3 amps. When you add a camera, dew heaters, focuser etc you are certainly in excess of the allowed 3 amps. In addition I have discovered that the USB c port on the saddle provides zero communication to my Pegasus advance powerbox V2. I have asked the question as why, I'm waiting for a response, please see my post last week.

Hi,"3A on saddle" means that when you are powering the AM5N through this DC interface, you need to provide at least 3A. However, if you are using this interface to power external devices, it can output more than 12V5A. We have conducted rigorous testing, so please use it with confidence.

ASIMount@ZWO does that mean that I can hook up a 12v->220v inverter and power my air conditioning unit since it'll consume more than 12v5A?

Hey, thanks for clarifying this question; following up on your answer that "[the saddle DC port] can output more than 12V5A", do you have results of the testing, that could hint what kind of current can effectively pass through this port? Any amp can be useful up there on the OTA ;-)

My question is, how does the power transfer from the power coax in 12v (3A) to the saddle, it either has to be a slip joint that can turn >360 degrees, or it has to be wires that wrap around the axis of the mount. If it is the latter, could someone rotate the RA axis too far and cause the wires to wrap too tight and get damaged? Not that i would rotate all the way around, just asking if it is even possible for this to happen... Obviously, if it is a slip joint, then you could rotate several times around with no issues. If it is a slip joint, then what is the current limit to the wiper/disk contacts?

I am going to create a spreadsheet and log the power budget of all of my hardware so that i can get a better idea as to how much current is needed to power all of the HW...
