ASI174MM- need help with windows7 under parallels/Yosemite

I have a new MacBook Pro with Yosemite (10.10.2) and would very much like to get my newly acquired ASI174MM to work with it.

Windows 7 under Parallels sees the camera and FC seems to recognize it however I immediately get "capture failed" when I start FC. Any ideas?

Also I read somewhere that the ASI cams can be flashed with new firmware that might help issues with OS X?

flash firmware did fix this problem without USB2.0 cameras

but our USB3.0 is already use the testest firmware

can you try oacapture at first on Mac?

Yes OACapture seems to work well. I was getting 300-350fps with the camera sitting on my desk. Hope to get an opportunity to shoot Jupiter this weekend.

It would still be nice to get things running on the Mac with FC.

I think this maybe the problem of Parallels

I have posted this already over on CN but for the benefit of the Mac people...

While I do not have any images to share from the ASI174MM yet, I can report success operating it under a parallels/Win7 VM environment with FC!

I have Mr. Edelmann to thank for this more than anything that I might have figured out. I had just about given up until I noticed that the FC2.4.08 beta release worked extremely well for the 174MM with my windoze notebook and its “slow” 7200rpm SATA HD.

I uninstalled everything related to FC/ZWO on the VM and then did a fresh install letting the driver program assign the directory that it wanted while placing FC on the root. ( Don’t know if this really helped or not- but now it WORKS!)

Before this I was unsuccessful running FC on my MAC with both TIS DFK 21 and a PG Flea3 USB. Whatever happened in the last FC beta release is GREAT!

The USB3 performance seems more than adequate with this setup based on my bench tests. This is even with splitting the quad core between OS X and the Win7pVM. The Mac’s 2GB video and 16GB ram probably helps though…

Below is a log of the performance on the Mac.

Hope I get a chance very soon to try it out on Jupiter! Looks like this camera is going to be a lot of fun!
