LA3QMA What I would really ask for (maybe in an advanced user mode panel) is this: have control over exposure time in seconds from 1 to say 60 and gain and more importantly create a mode where no tracking or stacking is done, simply save consecutive 7-second (or whatever) exposures as RAW FITS files, star trails and all, So just move to a target and stop there, then save a programmable number of exposures without tracking or stacking or anything. No drizzling, no plate solving, nothing, just capture and save. I am not asking for more features, I am asking for less. After you reach the programmed count, then move again to the same target, recenter using plate solving and repeat everything programmable number of times. And do not place all the images in a folder called Unknown, that goes without saying. As a matter of fact, drop the Unknown thing altogether, if you do not have a name use the RA/Dec coordinates to build a unique folder name.
Yes, there will be star trails but we can deal with those in postprocessing through deconvolution. And you would have 100% capture efficiency. This would be so trivial to implement in software it's not even funny. You could even do the deconvolution and stacking in realtime on a PC if it can access the S50 file system over WiFi, as the FITS files are created by the S50.
