It would be nice to be able to name hardware for a session so I can more easily separate the pictures I took with one telescope vs another. This could be as easy as including the focal length in the file (or directory) names, or having a config option to list the name of a telescope (eg. C8, GT80, ...)
I have a bunch of telescopes and sometimes I don't properly move files at the end of a night and just plop a different telescope on for the next night with the same asiair. I have a bunch of different EAFs permanently attached, so it's just throwing it on a finder shoe and plugging things in.
If they showed up in the folders as .../Plan/Light/<target>/<telescope>/<filename with filter and camera>.fits, I'd be happy. This would be even better with things that I'm not good at repeating every night (even when I know I should), such as flats, but those I think would be good to put in folders by camera as well. Maybe something like .../Autorun/Flat/<telescope>/<camera>/<filename> would be good.
So if the structure were like this, I could find the same telescope on different targets more easily:
Plan/Light/MyFancyC8/SH2-244/<files here>
Plan/Light/MySmallerGT80/SH2-244/<files here>
Or:
Plan/MyFancyC8/Light//SH2-244/<files here>
Plan/MySmallerGT80/Light/SH2-244/<files here>
Or:
Plan/Light/SH2-244/MyFancyC8/<files here>
Plan/Light/SH2-244/MySmallerGT80/<files here>
...
The specific ordering of the names in the path doesn't matter so much to me as actually being able to separate them and easily correlate flat frames.
