Failed to get the stream

After successfully connecting my new S50 in the SeeStar app and selecting "Scenery", the scenery screen pops up with the little wheel in the center spinning around. After about a minute I receive "Failed to get the stream" message. The same thing happens when I try to look at the sun.

I have no problems when I am stargazing looking at nebulas and other objects in that mode.

I am running the SeeStar S50 app on an android phone (android version: 11). S50 Firmware is 2.95.

Sorry for the trouble.
Could you check if stargazing mode work fine? and if the problem appear all the time, please reproduce it and submit a bug report in the settings, we will analyze it as soon as possible, thank you.

The latest version (2.0) is the culprit. I uninstalled it and installed 1.2 again, fixed it. It's been two months, to the day, that this highly flawed version was released. Hopefully they'll fix before long.

Gawd I hate this new version, I eventually just gave up because it couldn't find the sun and after canceling it said Failed to Get the stream and then entered the death spiral of egregious annoyance until I did a forced shutdown.

siguie Have you tried the method I wrote in the "$500 doorstop" topic yesterday? I don't know if it solves your problem, but give it a try. Place your Seestar with the power button towards to the east.

Found a bootleg version of 2.1.0 beta, gonna try it tomorrow. I'll let you know if it helps.

Tried it but it makes no difference. I've also calibrated everything and even built a flat cement base for telescopes and cameras but no joy. I don't know if it's an "Android" problem I'm pretty sure it's the firmware on the s50 though it may be the way it tries to communicate with the android device.

It's really frustrating and the zoom options randomly locks up the device 10% of the time requiring a hard reeboot. I wish I could just run a cable and control the thing directly OR atleast not be forced to upgrade !!!

Well, this sounds really weird, indeed. This could be a hardware problem too. The computer in the Seestar is a kind of Raspberry stuff. Maybe a RAM error, or something like this. Should be changed under warranty, I guess.

Sorry to be responding so late but I figured it out for me anyways. It seems to be an issue with Android 14 communication sync.

I didn't realize how much data passes between the s50 and the app but there appears to be numerous "fails" and security somthing retries before the app locks up. So I tried using an old android 9 phone and there were no problems, the same with an old android 11 tablet.

That said an android 14 phone and android 14 tablet both have the same problems. So my guess is the problem is an android 14 app communication problem with s50.

Since I don't like using the tiny phone screen I just use a rooted kindle fire HD 10 whichi I'm fairly sure runs on Android 9.

That said the seestar app ran flawlessly on Android 14 up until the last update. I really wish you would stop forcing those updates !!!

Oh on Android 9 I did have the Seestar app spit out either "Err 268" or "Err 263" but it only happened once and it was a quick flash and then gone.

Stargazing and Planetary mode had the same problems as did going through the star atlas.

I want to add to this because more people are experiencing this and it's not a one off.

The issue is no video stream in any mode.

I submitted a bug report.

Everything about the telescope still works other than the fact I can't pull video. If I could have more information about the type of connection it's trying to make, I might be able to do more t/s. Like what kind of video stream is it? what port is it running on? etc...

What I have tried:

Directly connected to the S50 wifi
Station mode on my wifi
Multiple firmware updates
Restarting the S50 and my phone

S50 CESC

I've recently buyed an S50 and I'm updated all app and firmware. It works well under an Android 11 smart phone. But I've purchased an Android 14 tablet and start receiving this nasty "falled to get the stream" error. Today I've reported that bug to zwo. I would like a fast response, solution or fix!

Since version 2.0 android needs 6gb ram to work. After getting the same error message, I updated my tablets to Android 14 with 12gb ram and works perfectly.
