When connecting the S50 to a USB port on a machine running Ubuntu 24.04LTS the device says that it is connected to a computer --- true. However, it cannot be mounted into the filesystem and a continuous stream of messages appears in /var/log/syslog. The snippet given here shows the end of the log, including the messages produced after unplugging the S50.

Almost all my systems run Linux but fortunately I have a dual-boot Win10 laptop. The S50 appears as an external drive there and the files, especially the FITS file, are accessible. It is a bit of a pain to transfer files to the workstations but a kludgy work-around exists for now.
Any idea what to do to get the S50 working under Linux?
Thanks,
Paul
