Using 174mc for stop / slow motion capture

Hello all and allow me to introduce myself .

I am an older gentleman that is a total gear head and uses a meade 6000 115 ed apo triplet in remote locations while camping as a semi retirement dream /hobby .

I recently purchased the zwo asi174 mc and have yet had a chance to use it , but am amazed by the "special capabilities" of this camera .

It seems to me that this camera could have a duel functionality as a great astro imager as well as a sophisticated stop /slow motion action .

I would want fairly near field for some of this type of work .

My thoughts have ranged wildly from trying to mate it to a spotting scope or 10x50 to mating it somehow to a m42 type analog/optical camera lense for fairly close up work .

I wonder if any of you people that are more knowledgable than I about focal ratios and such could give my any advise on this subject .

Is there anyone that has tried to use this camera this way ?

It seems to me there are many things that can happen in the blink of an eye that would fun to try to capture with this camera if the optics can be worked out .

Any imput from knowledgable folks is appreciated .

as a side note I have access to cnc lathing and machine threading so making custom fitting is possible .

welcome to the forum

you can use any C lens to connect to the camera

but you need a C-CS adapter at first

I think maybe we need this part as a stardand part with ASI174 consider your guys want to play with lens

Thank you for the swift response . It seems It might be easier than I thought ! The adapter would be a nice item to include with this camera .I think it would be a good selling point because of all the possibilities it would open up . A tripod adapter would be nice also .I see it has a 1/4 20 threaded hole on the back ,so perhaps a binocular adapter would work if turned around .

yes, its easy to setup

we didn't include this part is because its hard to find a suitable lens for 1" sensor

For the small price I may give it a try . Most of the 1" cam lenses I found of decent quality are around 600 dollars . Eos lenses are readily available for much less .

sam, can post a illustration diagram to explain. It it not quite obvious how to attach a C mount adapter can be mated to the camera given that it had t thread with diameter 42mm

we provide such adapter, it come with our ASI120 cameras

outside is M42 screw

inside is C screw

thickness is 7mm
