My ZWO ASI120mm gets into a funny state where the image is all black. FireCapture just reports Capture Failed. Other applications just show all black. No amount of fiddling with the USB Traffic, Gamma, Gain or Exp will restore an image. Out of frustration, I unplug the camera and re-plug it back in. Everything seems to reset for several days before I get the black screen of death.
The problem is, this is a remote site. I can only physically unplug and re-plug the camera on the weekends when I can get there.
This camera is in a powered USB extender. I cannot seem to power down and power up the ZWO remotely. Of course, that may just be my lack of knowledge.
Is there a way to power down the ZWO remotely? I have tried disabling it in the Device Manager but that had no effect (probably because that was only affecting the PC and not the camera). Is there a remote camera reset code or trick I can use?
