I received my Seestar S50 yesterday, set it up in the dining room, installed the app, updated the firmware at which point the scope restarted, the arm deployed fine, but upon shutdown the scope parked the arm the wrong direction and crashed, I had to force shutdown. Restarted the scope and the app, moved the arm to home position via scenery mode, forced shutdown again, restarted, and same thing. I have tried this several times and the scope continues to crash. When I reset everything and open the App, it correctly shows the arm in the home position, and will open the arm correctly, but if I hit the "close" button on the app, or shut down via the app, it continues to park the wrong direction! I've pulled the battery for a couple of minutes with it in home position hoping that would help to no avail. Any ideas? I have searched the forum and haven't seen this specific issue where it couldn't be resolved via the manual reset to home. I have a couple of full-size rigs and was looking forward to a quick night of imaging without the hassle, but not my luck!
I also attempted to locate and sync to a known star last night thinking that might right the scope's idea of home, but it did not. I was able to plate solve a target, and it would go through horizontal alignment, but would fail then to re-center target. I ignored the error and attempted a few 20 sec exposures, but the tracking was terrible with horrible star trails. Mount was on solid surface with just about perfect level. I've been at this for a few years with full size rigs so can't imagine there is something simple I am missing, but anything is possible. I just feel like something is off with this unit.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I have reported the bug and reached out to customer service, with the response being to try what I had already tried above.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
