Hi everyone I'm a new member to the ZWO forum. and new owner of a ASI178

I have a couple of questions about the 178,

1: what is the setting for the bayer pattern in firecapture and also what do I set the debayer Algorithm to.

2: how do I get rid of the matrix in the preview window when I turn off debayer.

When I use sharpcap in mono8 I get a nice smooth image without the matrix so I was wondering if I have a wrong setting.

I wont be doing any processing or stacking I what it purely for live view

Hi John

at first you need to learn the different between MONO and RAW

there is matrix bayer patter if you preview in raw mode, because this is a color camera

and there is no way to remove it.

the bayter pattern is RGGB

mono8 in SC is grey image converted from raw format

this option is not avaiable under FC

Hello.
I bought an ASI178MM camera a few years ago. All that time I had been using it with my rather old laptop, which didn't have USB 3.0. So I got a new computer and finally decided to try the camera in USB 3 mode. I took the original cable from the camera package, which was lying unused all this time, and when I connected it I got the error "unknown device", although the camera drivers were installed in the system a long time ago. I tried other plugs on this computer and a few other computers, but the camera did not work anywhere. The USB 2 cable was fine.
Finally I bought the first USB 3 cable I could find at a local store and it worked fine!
Shame on you, gentlemen from ZWO, for using defective hardware with your cameras.
