Well. I'm pretty disappointed.
I bought an ASI224MC as a gift to myself for my birthday a month ago.
I bought it direct from ZWO. It arrived within a week and I was pretty excited to try it out.
It has worked the few times I have fired it up prior to this afternoon. But this afternoon it just stopped working.
All I get is a black preview window with the words 'capture failed' in the upper left corner of the preiew area. That's about a few seconds after I open the software. That's before I've even clicked the record button to capture an AVI.
I've tried adjusting sliders. I've tried varying the ROI. Nothing helps. The camera's also not sending temperature data.
I also have an ASI120MC which is working fine at this stage with the same laptop. (Not simultaneously with the 224MC, of course).
As a sidenote, even from the first day I plugged the camera in, I thought it was very noisy, especially compared with the 120MC. Which surprised me, given the reviews I had read attesting to its low noise.
It also operated at a much higher temperature than the 120MC, which I also thought was strange. It 's temperature readout was generally 10 degrees higher, and didn't seem to track very accurately.
I've written to ZWO through their website and also written to Sam direct.
I'm hoping I'll get an answer soon.
