What is Hot Point Correction HPC

Under Calibration on the latest software version 2.2.0 Firmware 3.58 there is a option for Hot Point Correction HPC what's is this for?

In english (not chinglish) it is called Hot PIXEL Correction. With this function you can make new dark frames to correct hotpixels.

Then why not call it 'Hot Pixel Correction' talk about confusion!

Seestar_S50 Well, it's a language related thing. In chinese language, the word "pixel" and "point" is the same, I guess. Just like in my native language, however I know what the difference is between pixel and point. 🙂 What is more, in my language, "pixel", "point" and "dot" is the exact same word. 🙂

When this function can be used?
Every time temperature change? So i put outside the telescope and every time do new hpc?

satch984 First of all you should put your scope outside about 1 hour before the shooting to cool it down, especially during the winter. Dark current in CMOS sensors doubles for every 5 to 6 Celsius increase so you should use this HPC function when the temperature increases this value. BUT! Let's take an example. Your scope and sensor is 5 Celsius when start your session and Seestar creates the darks. The sensor produces heat during photoshooting. About 10-15 minutes in the session your sensor is not 5 Celsius anymore, but 15-18 Celsius. Your image is noticeable noisier. So I would say it's good to do HPC 10-15 minutes after you start your shooting, then again after an hour. As the temperature is decreasing during the night, it's not necessary to do further HPC.
Also I do refocus every 60 minutes. It would be great to have auto focus timer function in the upcoming updates.....
