Error code 80040209

I have an asi120mc. I previously used it on windows XP machine. About half the time it would work ok and half the time it would error with the code 80040209.

I now have a brand new acre windows 8 machine. Astronomy use only. Only programs loaded are zwo and SharpCap. Have made sure driver is loaded and recognised and device manager says all is ok and device is working. Driver was downloaded from zwo site today. If you start SharpCap you get same error but prefixed with 0x.

If you start SharpCap you also get error. On one occasion it gave error report which was send with report number #16185.

I have never managed to reliably use this camera.

When it works it works well.

I can not find any way to make it work reliably.

It has never worked on windows 8. Tried for many hours but always the same. Sent you an email, many thanks.

All my fault, well nearly, I installed the driver for the 120mn-s, which of course is the usb3 version!

It really was not clear in the software download area.

Now the camer is flying on a new pic and thanks to Sam.

I am having this same issue with the ASI120MC. I am running windows 10. I installed ASCOM Platform 6 - SP1, ASI120MC Camera 2.4.3.20, ASI120MC - S Camera 1.2.3.5, and ASI Camera ASCOM Driver 1.0.1.4.

I am also running sharpcapture 2.5.

I had all of this working fine on a windows 7 laptop but that died and I upgraded. But now I keep getting the same error code "Error during preview 0x80040209" in sharpcap and "error 80040209" if I try to open the camera programs on their own.

The camera does show as a "connected device" and doesnt make mention of a driver error. It originally did that but after some uninstalls and reinstalls it no longer says that.

I have 2 USB 2.0 drives and a 3.0 drive and this message happens with the camera plugged into either-level drive.

Can anyone help?

this is the same problem

because win10 is too smart and install the wrong driver automatically sometimes

ASI120MC is different from ASI120MC-S

they are different camras

so you'd better uninstall all and reinstall the driver of ASI120MC
