  • ASI533MM Pro will not connect to ASCOM driver

The camera will connect via the native driver to SharpCap. And its visible in the win10 pro Device Manager. But ASCOM says there is no ASI device visible on the system. This is true on 2 of my computers. A third laptop does recognize the camera with ASCOM.
ASCOM is 6.6SP2. Power supply is 3A.
My old ASI178 is readily recognized on all systems.
These seems like a camera problem and I should return it while I can.
Any suggestions I should explore for this problem?
Thx
George

gasilvis If the camera works fine with native driver, but does not work in ASCOM driver, which more like a software issue, not the hardware.
What is the version of ASCOM driver? uninstall it and reinstall the newest version to try.

I installed ASCOM 7 and am now able to connect to the camera in normal fashion.

I note that the connection is successful only if the USB is connected after power is applied. That is, connection with USB alone does not work. This is unlike earlier cameras like the ASI178. And connection fails if power is applied after the USB connection.

Is this the expected behavior? Because this makes working with the camera remotely difficult as it is not easy to toggle the USB connection off-then-on remotely.

I also note that it can take up to 20 seconds for the driver to connect. If you rush this you fail to connect and the filter-wheel also fails to connect.

gasilvis Yes, all cooled cameras need a 12V power and USB for connection now.
