Cooling ZWO ASI224MC

Hi,

While waiting for the cooled version of the ASI224MC, I am planning to do a diy version. My question is, apart from the USB and ST-4 connectors, is the camera housing adequately sealed to prevent massive condensation? If so, can I achieve a decent seal by just applying some silicone around the connectors? I live in Singapore, where it is hot a humid all year round. The camera runs at 38-40 degC without any cooling, which in my opinion is a little high.

Hi Cyrus

the 224mc is not adequately sealed

so you have to do it yourself if you want to cool it deeply

you can put some silicone around the sensor to avoid dew problem

Hi Sam,

Can I check with you whether there is back-access to the cmos chip on this camera (i.e. can I apply a TEC onto the sensor directly)? Do you have any pictures of the camera with the housing taken off? That will help a lot for me to plan to cooling strategy, or decide not to do it at all!
