Why is my EAF increasing star size??

This has been happening for the past month now. I use the auto focuser program and when I run it, each time without fail, the stars get bigger by the time it's done. Just tonight I started at 8.03 and I ran one and it was up to 14.23, i ran it again and it ended on 23.?? What's the deal..? I thought maybe the screws that clamp onto the focuser were loose but they were fine. I can even move it up and down by hand. Anyone else dealing with this? I have to manually focus and just guestimate and hope they're focused.

Mr_Cellophane What is the software you use to control the EAF? and how about the V curve?

I have the same issue. I manually focus my stars until almost perfect and then it makes them totally out of focus. I use the ASIair and my V curve is no longer like a V. Sometimes it stays up at the top all flat. But what I don’t understand is why? It it was running so good before 🙁

I had the same problem in the past, (flat or weird V-curves, AFs seemingly not working well); I associated it with having poor seeing; has since gone away because I'm not imaging during poor seeing

also make sure the coupler on the EAF is attached correctly to the shafts, and tightened well, AND, measure and make up for your backlash
