Would the ASI 224MC be a better choice than the ASI174MM for imaging stars in the near infrared (between 750nm and 900nm)? I have an On Axis guider (known as an ONAG) that captures guide stars through a dichroic mirror that admits light above 750nm (rejecting visible light below 750nm). It looks like the quantum efficiency of the 224MC is considerably better than the 174MM for wavelengths between 750nm and 900nm. But would the 224MC be a poor choice for imaging stars in the near infrared with my ONAG because it uses a color sensor?
Also will there be a 224MM that I should wait for to get a monochrome chip with a better infrared quantum efficiency response?
Thanks,
Peter
