ASIAir v2.3 (11.56)
I'm trying to put together a small astrophotography setup for travel and outreach events since my big rig is much more combersome to move around. I have an IOptron SmartEQ that I used for visual astronomy that I'd like to take to these outreach events to demonstrate modern astrophotography.
BUT there is a propblem. My ASIAir thinks the SmartEQ Pro mount isn't tracking. The track button on the preview screen is disabled. I can't turn on tracking. (However I can clearly hear the mount doing SOMETHING and it sure looks liek the RA axis is slowly turning.)
Second, when trying to calibrate guiding, the ASIAir complains that tracking isn't enabled (which makes sense.) There is an "ignore" option for this error, but tracking then fails stating the RA didn';t move enough during calibration (again this makes sense.)
I DO know the ASIAir is talking to the mount correctly. I can goto and plate solve just fine. It works really well in fact. So communictions via an ST4 cable plugged into the hand controller works just fine.
So my question is, does the ASIAir fully support the SmartEQ Pro? I sounds like it does not. If not then it's time to start saving up for a new mount and toss this one out. I hate throwing out otherwise good equipment, but if it can't track, it is of no use to me.
