Short Nosepiece for ASI174MM?

I understand that it is possible to change the housing/nosepiece on the ASI174MM so as to reduce the spacing between the sensor and the M42 mounting threads. Right now, the ASI174MM has 17.5mm of backfocus while many of the other ZWO cameras only use 12.5mm of spacing.

This extra spacing can be critical if you plan on using a filter-wheel between your camera and something like a telescope field flattener, or even if you want to mount standard camera lenses to the ASI174MM.

So, how can one obtain the shorter nosepiece/housing (which I assume will also allow for a properly-sized AR window/filter)?

I don't know if your 174 came with a fisheye lens. If it did then you can remove lens and screw in a nose piece of your choosing. If not on lens then here is a link for that exact adapter.

Donboy, thanks but that is not what I'm asking for. What I need is the nosepiece that is part of the camera body itself (it's the part of the camera body that can slip into a 2" eyepiece holder or accept a male t-thread adapter, tube, or accessory). Basically, it's the entire "front" of the camera body itself.

I think you can use our 1.25" low profile filter if you need a such internal AR filter

So, let's see if I understand.

1.) If you install the short nosepiece /camera housing adapter (the one that only takes 12.5mm of backfocus) there is no way to mount an internal AR window/filter.

2.) If you want an AR window/filter you can purchase one from ZWO and install it into a 1.25" eyepiece adapter.

However, option 2 seems to be pretty useless since the reason you want to use the short nosepiece/camera housing is to reduce the spacing between the camera sensor and the optics (filters, reducer, field flatterer, OAG, etc.). That means you most likely won't be using a 1.25" eyepiece adapter.

Perhaps I've been misunderstood, what I want is to reduce the camera housing spacing on the ASI174MM from the current 17.5mm to 12.5mm as is found on many other of the ZWO cameras. I thought I had read on your user forums that it was possible to change the camera housing so that the internal spacing on the camera was only 12.5mm. Maybe that's not possible.

no, there is no way to mount an internal AR window with the ASI120 cover
