I did not have a chance to try the new planning mode, no clear nights for weeks here in the great white north, but I did play with it off-line. So far it looks good, I see only one major issue, for the case where you want to use it to plan mosaics.
There is a gray square for each individual image, which is great, but they are all oriented vertically, parallel to each other, which is not what you will actually get. I think these rectangles show the frame position at the time you are creating the plan, not the time you are taking the exposure. Would it be possible to rotate these rectangles so that they reflect the true position at the time the exposure would start? If that's too difficult, please inscribe a 0.72-degree circle inside each rectangle, that's the area of sky you will get no matter what the actual azimuth rotation will be and this would help plan larger mosaics much better.
