Which V3 Firmware for the ASI120MC?

I just recently tried to update the firmware in my ASI120MC and it seems that there are two different firmware files that are marked for the ASI120MC. One of those files has the word "compatibility" in the file name but I'm wondering which I should use for Windows 8.1 and/or Windows 10. My PC is a fairly new ASUS core i3 with an Intel Core USB xHCI controller.

Please note that the firmware update instructions do NOT even mention that there are (apparently) two different versions of the V3 firmware. Specifically, I'm talking about the troubleshooting PDF that is available for download at this location on the ZWO website:

Also, it seems that Sequence Generator Pro is having problems with my ASI120MC. I'm running the ASCOM v1.0.1.10 driver and SGP often does not display any images from the ASI120MC. The software seems to connect but there are no images displayed after the download. I've seen it work a few times with SGP, but normally I get nothing from the camera.

Does anyone know whether this is a driver, firmware, or SGP problem?

you don't need to update the firmware is you can see any image from the camera

the firmware update is only used for these PC cannot see any image or cannot install the driver

the firmware name without "compatible" is the oringal firmware come out of ZWO

so I think you can flash the old one back and try again

the oringal firmware can provide best performance but some compitable problem with few PCs

Okay, I think I understand. The v1.3 firmware with the term "compatible" in the file name is to be used if you seem to be having problems getting images to show up on your PC. In all other cases you just want to use the file (firmware update) that does NOT have the word "compatible" in the name.

In any case, is there a way to tell which firmware you have installed on your camera? When I updated my camera it only took a second or a fraction of a second for the firmware to upload. That seemed very fast and I wondered whether it had actually uploaded anything to the camera.

yes, it's very fast, it upload successfully if no error message show up

the only difference between the 2 firmware is the endpoint size of compatible firmware is 512

but the other is 1024

so you can tell from some other tool which can see the endpoint size of a USB device

such like USBVIEW
