Adapter for ZWO ASI camera with a Canon EOS lens

Hi Sam and all,

Is there an adapter for using a Canon EOS lens with one of the ASI-Series cameras?

Or, is this even a practical option? It seems a higher quality lens will work better than the wide angle lens that comes with the cameras.

you can find it in market

and you need a C-CS adapter connect it to ASI cameras except ASI174

I recently used these to mount a Canon lens on an ASI120MM just to see what would happen.

The combination worked fine, but the field of view for a typical camera lens is very small.

I also want to put a canon EF lens on my ASI174MM camera. But the adaptor links above do not seem to be the right size. The thread on the ASI174 is m42x0.75 rather than C-mount, or?

All the links I can find on an online search point to adapters to mount a canon camera on a telescope, but of course I want the exact opposite!

Also, when I put my lens in front of the camera there seems to be about a 3 cm. space to get to infinity focus. Any ideas?

There are T2->Canon lens mount adapters in some astro shops. Depending on lens and camera backfocus you will need some T2 spacers as well.

Here is my M42 lens setup (there is a 1,25" filter inside too):

The adapter that comes with the ASI cameras is M42 x .75 outside and 1" x 32 TPI (C/CS thread) on the inside. The parts I listed are for use with the ASI adapter in place.

M42 x .75 is the T-thread so the most common astronomical connector. The same as on that Atik camera. You don't need the C/CS ring as it's rather to small in diameter an may cause vignetting with fast lenses.

I've been unable to find a source for a Canon EOS lens to the T2 (M42) thread....

If you know of someone who can supply, please post the answer!

It shouldn't be a problem to find it somewhere closer as it's one of those accessories that can come from China ;) There are few designs of those adapters, some with tripod mounting.

Just wanted to drop in here and say that I came here looking for information on this exact thing. I bought a 224 camera and wanted to use my EOS lenses with it. I did find that I could get Precise Parts to make an adapter for me but the cost was too high.

There are c-mount adapters on Amazon and e-bay that are less than $30.00 US with free shipping. Such a shame that there are no t-mount adapters :(
