please adjust telescope position if its blocked

Hello world,
owning a brand new S50 :-) I thought, I could explore the sky, which was a fail, so far ...
With firmware 4.0 the telescope had difficulties to find any object automatically. Manual positioning instead returned good resutls. With firmwar 4.0.2 the telescope managed 2 times to automatically find the sun and moon, wow, but finding any other object in the sky ended in ->
"please adjust telescope position if its blocked blabla"
I'm really frustrated and the real bad thing is, I sent log files to Seestar, I left post here and there but nobody ever came back. to me with something.
If I find somebody stupid, I'd sell it right away
Colleagues, please let me know if I'm the only one with this problem, which could lead to 2 interpretations.
1: the device needs a repair
2: the user is the problem

The SeeStar is not a planetary telescope, I would not waste time with the planets. Use a major star to level the S50, then try deep space objects. Globular clusters are very nice to start with and really easy to do, 5 minutes of exposure are usually more than enough. The S50 shines when doing nebulae and galaxies, which require exposure times in the 15 to 60 minute range. You can also try to chase really dim targets, I was able to see stars and asteroids down to magnitude +17 with exposure times of 30 minutes or more. If you are in the Northern hemisphere M42 is the easiest target of all at this time of year, I would start with that.

Have you performed the requested manual focus as the message requests? Pint to a bright star, manually focus, make note of the focus value, then attempt to go to a DSO. If that is successful, change the default focus value to this new value (Me->Focus->Star Focus POS Default.

It's Chinese New Year so I wouldn't expect any reponse from ZWO until later this week (next week????)....

I'm experiencing the same problem with my brand new S30.. I tried few times to point M42 in the northern hemisphere and all the times I got the same message... the point is that the scope was pointing to a different position in the sky and not to the M42... do you believe is a focus issue (manual focus to be performed)? Thanks!

Same issue here. The 4.02 bricked my SeeStar. I tried the manual focusing and it didn’t work PLUS I shouldn’t have to do that to fix a problem that ZWOASTRO created. Where is the fix? How do I back out the last firmware upgrade? Otherwise this device is worthless.

Can't manual focus in any mode? Have you ever tried manually focusing and then changing the default value?

I had the same problem with V4.02 firmware, when the the Seestar could not locate any object despite numerous compass recalibrations. Problem was narrowed down to an incorrect value for the default focus position. By clicking on DEFAULT in the manual focus setting the factory original factory setting was put back and I could then GO TO objects easily once more.
Subsequently I purchased a Bahtinov mask and recalulated my default Focus position and use this value with any deep sky object to get sharp focus. I find this slightly better then using Autofocus.

I have a similar problem with SeeStar 50. I downloaded the most recent software and had no problem capturing M95 and M96, then used framing for the first time for the rosette nebula. But the next night I tried M105 and got the message to adjust if blocked and focus. It was not blocked and it found M105 and appeared to be focused, but all frames were discarded due to star trails. There was no wind and the tripod was stable. The object was about 45 degrees from the horizon. I restarted the SeeStar, adjusted the level and auto focused, but got the same message about blocked. It successfully found the object and all looked in focus, but 0 frames kept. Other than manually downloading the frames and stacking them myself, any other suggestions?

eAA4o4ee Does "all frames are discarded" mean that you didn't capture any images at all? How long did you take the images for? Were the stars moving during the preview mode? Please don't skip the starry sky horizontal calibration.

Is "1708" the factory default focus position?

That message appears usually for me too, but without the problem of not finding the object. It finds the target anyway, though it may take longer time. So I think this message doesn't mean always a real problem or error, may be just a warning.

I had a similar situation, I took a shot of the moon and tried to capture a nebula afterwards, but it wouldn't work, I kept on getting that same message you got. After a while I noticed the big blurry stars in the background so I cancelled the message and auto focused on the stars. after that I tried to capture the nebula again and it worked. Seemed to me as if the Seestar didn't try to reset focus / autofocus on the new target 🤷🏻‍♂️
