Help with FC and shooting Jupiter.

I did OK with the Moon last night, but Jupiter was another story. FC FPS dropped to 2 or even 0.007, making it too difficult to focus and capture. I tried different gain settings, resolution and no difference.

I have Celestron C8 and 120mc-s using prime focus. Thanks in advance.

there is no difference with moon and jupiter except which is smaller

so make sure you find the correct target

Which one is better for planetary imaging, Firecapture or Sharpcap? I have been playing with both and found SC more user friendly, and waiting for the next clear sky.

I did find Jupiter because I could see two of its moons in the FOV on FC. Although I think bad focus might be the issue. It was my first time, need a lot more practice.

This is my very first astrophoto using FC and Registax 6.

I use only FireCapture - for mono cameras it's the best application - due to automation of imaging, filter wheel control and more :)

Have a one shot 120mc now for practice, will consider a mono sensor later if all goes well.

Is a cooled camera worth the money? I hate another power cable or issues with dew. But the plan is to go from planetary to DSO so maybe a cooled cam will be good.

What kind of automation does FC have? The SharpCap latest beta has dark subtraction and live stack, although very little documentation yet so need a lot of luck trying it out next time.

Keeps settings between filters and it manages filters in the filter wheel. So I can quickly shoot a full filter sequence just by changing filter name in FC (or launching a sequence). For color it's not that much useful unless you are for example doing multiple Jupiter AVIs to capture it rotation.

Hi, the problem, IMHO, are the drivers. Just checked them? Your pc Usb 3.0 drivers are correct? Have you installed the correct drivers for 120mc-s?
