I have a pair of ZWO ASI 2600 cameras that would not download an image Saturday night.
The systems that I was working with was a 2600 MC Duo and a 2600 MC Pro. Both cameras are mounted on RedCat 51s and each has a ZWO EAF mounted on it. The whole setup is carried on a ZWO AM5N. I have a BeeLink Mini PC mounted between the scopes that I operate with Remote Desktop. I have collected data in the past with each of the cameras separately, and I’m commissioning the side by side system now.
Saturday I started out using NINA to control just the Duo. I captured the first sub frame to start autofocusing. It was a 4 second exposure and it never completed. I got an error message saying that the image failed to download. Then another error message saying that the camera never reported that the exposure was complete. I had experienced this a few weeks earlier so this was a bit frustrating.
I did some standard troubleshooting stuff, checking cables, disconnecting and reseating the cable connectors. I warmed the camera then disconnected and reconnected. I switched the cables from the Pro to the Duo. I connected the camera in the ZWO Deep Sky imaging app. Nothing I did made a difference,I could not get an image to download. So I packed it up. All was not lost, I had my TEC140 with a camera on it capturing away on Bodes Nebula.
I built the side by system and the cable harness for it at home. After building I tested everything as far as one can without a starry sky to work with. I never take a rig to the field until everything works perfectly at home. This system is no exception to that rule.
Now I have the system set up indoors at home again. Once again it works perfectly. The only difference being the temperature is warmer and it’s much less humid here. I really thought I was dealing with bad USB cables, even though they are all new.
So I’m at a loss on what to try next. What suggestions do you have for other troubleshooting tips? Does the driver have some sort of log? Does the Deep Sky imaging have a debug log somewhere? I just don’t know what to look at next.
