The Ring using C8, f6.3 and 120mc-s

300 lights, 100 darks @16 sec. Sharpcap, DSS and some rudimentary Photoshop tweak. Still finding my way around.

How much the exposure needs to be cranked up to have a decent outline of IC1296? Can it be achieved with the 120mc with good processing?

I know the limitation of the 120mc, but don't think I have pushed it to the limit yet. . Probably need to go to a dark site and with ideal seeing conditiins.

Your resolution is rather high which makes DS imaging harder. You need stable image and perfect focus, light pollution filter and few hours at least of frame capturing. The sky could be nice and dark too.

Thanks for pointing out IC1296. I blew the raw image up 500% and did a few adjustments in photoshop, could clearly see the "S" shaped center pixel by pixel.

You could try the f/3.3 SCT reducer too - the sensor is small enough for it.

This version clips most details so IC1296 is gone, but the color intensity impressed family and friends.

It will be necessary to impress family and friends in order for me to stay in this hobby.
