@ incredibox Have you checked the free space and write speed of the memory card on your S50? I think this is an important factor in determining how long you can store videos/timelapses.
I also had trouble recording long events like a solar eclipse. If you want to optimize, try recording a short clip first to check if you have enough battery and memory. Also, don't forget a tripod to avoid shaking when recording!
