ASI678MC not working properly

I got a new ASI678MC. It shows only either complete white (e.g. when pointing at the moon) or complete black when pointing in area with stars. Through eyepieces it's all perfectly sharp and clear. The camera gets picked up by ASICap, KStars, Sharpcap, etc. I thought it might be a firmware issue, but when running the firmware update tool, it never finds the camera when pressing scan. I saw it can be used during daytime. Well, same phenomenon. Just completely white. Is the thing broken or whats wrong?

My best guess is you have a new camera that you need to learn to use - Astro cameras have settings that are simpler than a land camera but take some getting used to. Best to try your settings out during the day then try at night when you get the hang of it. Astro cameras have gain setting (this is similar to but not the same as ISO). So if you are getting white pictures, set the gain to a low value. Of course there is an exposure setting - for daytime set this to a really short time - like 0.01s. for night, try 5+seconds, even up to 10 mins. Settings are found in software, so to change them you need to have a computer and software attached. To experiment, partly cover the camera in daylight to see if this changes the picture. Using a lens or telescope will of course reduce the light coming into the camera. When you have a grip on it - ideal gain settings can be found for your camera.
