I have been working on a 3D printed EQ wedge for the S50 and I plan to release the file freely. It is being beta tested by a couple of members of this forum as we speak.
ZWO promised to release the EQ mode in a couple of weeks, a couple of weeks ago. Based on their statements so far, it seems they are not worried about the extra stress. As for replace/repair free of charge, was that a rhetorical question? Of course they are not going to do that and I would not expect them to do so.
If you are worried about this issue you should consider supporting the top of the S50 with a secondary tripod.
