How long does S50 try to close arm?

I appreciate this relates to a known issue, and that many requests have been made for a software update to fix this, but for my peace of mind: I left my S50 out last night running a full nights planning mode, with entirely necessary dew shield fitted. For reasons unknown, on this occasion it failed to pop off as the arm closed. I found the S50 powered on with the arm down but not closed as the dew shield had stopped it closing. While I know we are waiting for a change to the software for exactly these reasons, I am hoping @support@Seestar could tell me; for how long did the S50 try to close the arm? If there is an obstruction (like a person’s finger maybe!) does the Seestar immediately detect that and stop trying? Or is there significant effort employed to try to achieve full closure? What will the effect have been on my device?

The same thing happened overnight, came out and it’s down but not closed. When I tried to raise the arm it came up halfway and then said ‘limit reached’. Clicking on close arm recalibrated and all is well, just keen to know if it doing it harm. Considering how many people use aftermarket dew shields, it would be super helpful to know if it being prevented from shutting damages the device or not.

The Seestar S50 uses a push-assist mechanism when closing the arms, which typically does not apply excessive force. If an obstruction (the Dew Shield on the market) prevents full closure, the system detects the resistance and stops applying force instead of forcing the arms closed. This should not damage the device.

Since your device has been successfully recalibrated and returned to normal operation, there is no immediate concern. However, if this occurs frequently, consider adjusting or modifying the Dew Shield to ensure smooth operation. We understand that many users rely on aftermarket accessories, and we appreciate your feedback on this issue.
