Just a thought. Seeing as the app uses gps and knows the unit it’s connected to, if the user reported their scope as stolen, and as the app checks for firmware updates for the connected device could this be somehow linked and gps coordinates be sent next time the device is connected to aid with recovery.

I will record it. However, we have too many needs, so this suggestion may not be adopted. If a user's Seestar is really stolen, you may try to contact us, but we are not the police.

Let your local police know the serial number that displays while using the app and tell them the app does go online. They might have the sense to ask a foreign government officially for data they have on the device. China does punish criminals unlike the US treatments.

This was my other concern. Just waiting for my other discussion to get approved. But this is the gist. "So, I've just got a SeeStar S50 and have the app on my ipad (not logged in yet so using it 'as downloaded' and not logged in) in the 'Community' area, it seems to show the locations near me where the owners live, not where the image was taken. So I can see street locations near me where other SeeStar owners live. I would post a screen grab but dont want to identify a nearby owner. Just seems a bit odd? Why would you want an app thats publicly available without logging in showing where you live? If its a case of owners not knowing how to upload without disclosing their location then perhaps the app should warn about this?"

You can manually turn off photo watermarks and location sharing.

Support@Seestar Turning off watermarking helps when sharing JPEGs, however, you should be aware that your exact GPS location is stored in the FIT file if you try to share those.
