  • ASI174Mini - Visible via ASIair - Not in PC or MacOS

I reviewed many of the camera postings in the forum, seeking advice and possible other recommendations.
I've tried all of the suggestions: driver, Ascom drivers, Ascom Platform, cables, ports, computers and still device is not found.
This is standalone single camera connection directly to the USB-C or USB-A port.
Usually when you plug and unplug a device there is a system sound, and the "Device Manager" will reset with every insertion or extraction. So its totally unrecognized.

Attempted to use ASICap, PHD2, SGP, Fire Capture and SharpCap - none of them will connect to the ASI174 mini, but I also have a ASI220 mini and ASI120 mini as my control units (make sure I did not break something with all the changes); and they all respond and operate as expected. Same cables, ports and operating system.

When I plug the ASI174 Mini using the cable off the ASI533MM hubs USB-A port - its recognized and able to run in camera mode or guide camera mode.
What is different from ASIair-->USB-A compared to PC-->USB-A/C?
What is unique about the ASI174 mini? I'm unable to update the firmware as the tool does not recognize the hardware.
OS = W11 Q4H2 updates (x2), MAC= Sierra (x2).
Suggestions welcomed and very appreciated.

Why has this posting not been approved as of yet?
Any response would be appreciated, I'm dean in the water right now.
Please help!

Could ZWP tech team review and provide commentary?
Such as; Is there a dependency of USB-A and will not work with USB-C to USC-C?
Is there a firmware update for earlier cameras to be recognized?
I went ahead and bought a bunch of USB cables and the older cables work, but the newer USB cables are not working only for the ASI174, my other cameras are fine and working properly!!!

Sorry for the delay.

  1. Change the USB cable and port to make sure it supports data transfer, not just charging.
  2. Since other ZWO cameras are connected and working properly, it may be that your computer has a conflict when dealing with multiple devices from the same manufacturer.
Please try to disconnect other ZWO cameras and connect only the ASI174 Mini and test again. You can also try to disconnect all devices and connect only the ASI174 Mini to see if it can be recognized normally.
  3. Try using ASIAir.
  4. Reinstall the driver and try to update the firmware (run as administrator).
  5. Test on different operating systems or computers.
Hopefully these methods can help you solve the problem.

1 - Yes tried various data rate cables from 489MB to 80GB failed
2 - Isolated to ASI174, ASI220 and ASI120 are no problem and fully functional
3 - Yes using ASIAir and also sensative to a specific cable (2 out of 8 are functional)
4 - Tried to re-install drivers and was not sure if I should update the firmware
5 - Yes I tried 4 different computers; W10, W11, IOS and Mac

This is not a confidence builder - I will delay the purchase of additional equipment until its resolved.
