Hi,
After the alt/az adjustments, your Seestar is still believing it is pointing with led upwards. So when you go gazing with Atlas for the first time, the object selected in the atlas will be pointed completely offset as first attempt. This can fall on the sky, in this case it will auto solve and sync, and correct the offset coordinates. Or it can fall on a wall or other obstacle, and the first offset coordinates correction will never happen. If this happens, stop the identification loop, or wait for failure, and pick another object that will have this first auto solve and sync on the sky.
With the first solve falling on the sky, identification is successful, and seestar will think ah ok, this where I really am, then I need to move further, to center the desired object.
Now for this second attempt to center to object it can fall in the sky: happy path, luck or smart choice of object ! It will iterate until it centers perfectly, and now you can use your seestar as per school book.
Or by Murphy’s law it can fall on a wall or three etc…it will try to identfy where it is and loop until it declares failure. You can wait until failure or before that you can just click stop button, and then click Sync and confirm. You are just telling it, ok it’s a wall but believe me, your are pointing more or less right (given the first auto solve and sync in the sky).
After that the offset it memorized is almost good, and now the Atlas is representing fairly well where the scope is pointing. Now pick your next object, it will auto solve and sync this time almost spot on and eventually perfectly center the object.
Hope that helps,
Stevan
