These are all very good ideas, here is another one, fix the bug in SkyAtlas that gives wrong locations for asteroids, by a degree or so, just enough so you miss it completely.
Just temper down your expectations of anything being done about this. I have been asking for all these things for more than a year here, nothing actually happens.
