Help with over blown stars

I have tried to capture a few DSOs with 120mc, when too many stars are present, to bring out the fainter areas of nebula the stars are blown out of water. I have tried star mask without success.

Will a better camera, better post processing, better scope, better seeing condition, or darker site be needed to improve the situation?

In another image thread I posted NGC6888 to show the stars overblown .

Stars are usually matter of processing. I use curves usually to bring out the detail without killing the background or stars. Capture settings may have some effects too.

Try my Rosetta raw stack: 1ro.fit.zip

With DDP and/or curves I get results like:

Nope, that's a M42 lens (100mm focal length), Atik314L+ with Baader H-alpha filter.

Great sensor.... I've had the same but on a sxvh9, i never done a dark frame...

Could it be that mono camera with Ha filter brought faint nebula out more without over exposing bright stars? If so I will consider a mono and filter wheel for my next camera.

Did you use star mask?
